You are not required to study these, but it's always good to be able to know a few extra words :> or if you missed some meanings when writing them down in class, or just if you wanted to study these, still.

*For posts regarding the subject 'Modern Japans I: Taalbeheersing: Schrijven' (writing), one single post for each unit (deel) will be posted and updated over a short period of time, until we've covered the entire thing. しんぶん - newspapers in Japan can have articles written horizontally from left to right, or vertically from right to left, top to bottom.  Knowing where the small っ - in words like ざっし (magazine) - is placed is also crucial when writing. Let's say you're using mathematical paper with squares to write your Japanese. Take one square, split it into 4 and write the small っ in the bottom left, smaller square now. In a text written horizontally, read from left to right like subs, at least. When writing a text vertically, place the small っ in the top right corner of the square. These rules also apply to the small ゃ,ゅ and ょ letters. Speaking of which, only letters from the い～ Hiragana row can be extended with ゃ,ゅ and ょ. Examples: きゃ = kya, not kiya.　ぴょ = pyo. e...

Some Grammar in Relation to some Words from the Previous Post

Some words from the vocabs I decided to add as a 'little' extra on the previous post involved some grammar rules I wanted to teach you about, since I happen to kinda know about them: First of all, something that applies to pretty much any color: Regarding the word 'blue', we've come across 2 versions of it; あお and あおい.  So what is the difference? あお is a noun; The color itself. When using 'blue' as an adjective to use to describe other nouns, you use あおい. For example; a blue car = あおい くるま (kuruma = car). __________________________________________________________________________________ すしや appears. すし means the food sushi, and -や can be added behind words like this to turn them into stores, or similar places. Other examples of this being a thing include: だがしや - (small time) candy store (snoep winkeltje). Can also mean 'candy maker'. The Rest of Hiragana

 We have to learn to write the rest of the hiragana rows by ourselves as homework. Here is a chart with the stroke order for the remaining ones! It is important to know that letters may look different digitally and handwritten. This has to do with fonts. Sometimes, the 3rd line in き (ki) for example, is connected to the curve on the bottom. However, our books show a version where the curve and slanted line are disconnected. Know that both are correct. It's a matter of preference, but Takeyama-sensei writes letters like this disconnected, so lets stick to that! Extra... for anyone interested: Exercises related to learning to write hiragana provide MANY new words for us to learn. However, without any sort of context, determining their definition proves to be tricky.. Therefore, I decided to only list the new words with meanings that seemed more likely to be given to us as beginners, which are also more commonly used in everyday life.
